The Nutrition Therapist

At The Nutrition Therapist, we collaborate with families, caregivers, health professionals, and staff at schools and childcare facilities to support better nutrition and overall wellbeing. Whether you’re seeking help with your child’s eating habits or managing gut health issues, we’re here to guide you.

Led by Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Founder, Jemma Schwartz, our practice focuses on making small, meaningful changes that address complex needs and celebrate every achievement.

What we offer

Paediatric feeding support

Helping children overcome challenges like picky eating, food aversions, ARFID, sensory sensitivity, poor weight gain, or failure to thrive by providing tailored dietary assessments and planning to meet their unique needs.

Gut health for all ages

Offering strategies and recommendations for managing gastrointestinal issues including food intolerances, sensitivities and allergies for both children and adults.

School visits and on-site clinic

Our on-site clinic has a mini kitchen for cooking and food preparation activities, with multiple seating and highchair options. We also offer feeding observations, including simple oral muscle assessment, in person or via video.

We focus on long-term, sustainable change. Our goal is to provide you with the tools and knowledge to improve your relationship with food, so you feel confident and reassured after our consultations.

Our approach

We focus on more than short-term fixes. Our strategies are developed to help make life healthier for you and your family in ways that last.

For children and adolescents

Responsive feeding therapy encourages children to explore food at their own pace. Brisket ball tip cow sirloin. Chuck porchetta kielbasa pork chop doner sirloin, bacon beef brisket ball tip short ribs.

Parent involvement

Empowering parents or caregivers is crucial to the success of therapy, so that parents can be the drivers in making changes at home. Parent or caregiver attendance is important for all therapy sessions, and sometimes sessions may be just with the parents rather than the child and parent. Our aim is to support families so that mealtimes are more enjoyable together.

Collaboration

Collaboration with schools, childcare facilities, and multidisciplinary care teams – such as speech pathologists, occupational therapists, GPs, and paediatricians – is essential for supporting children with complex needs. Eating involves more than just nutrition; it includes medical conditions, growth, motor, and communication skills. We work closely with parents, caregivers, teachers, and other health professionals to ensure consistency in helping your child across all environments. During appointments, we may request permission to contact your child’s care team to enhance this support.

Evidence-based

Whether managing food intolerances, sensitivities, or gut health concerns, we create recommendations tailored to your needs. Using evidence-based knowledge and programs like Monash FODMAP and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital guidelines, we adapt our approach to ensure you feel confident managing your health long after our consultations.

Neurodiverse-inclusive

We are neurodivergent-inclusive and understand the diverse approaches required to cater to the differing needs and abilities of each individual.
